Experience as a Speaker

I am often the go-to emcee for school events and assemblies. I am responsible for making announcements, introducing speakers or performers, and engaging the audience.

There were multiple occasions where I was the speaker during morning assemblies, describing new experiences and valuable lessons I had learnt to the entire school.

These experiences has helped me develop strong public speaking skills, improve my clarity of expression, and has taught me the importance of crowd-engagement.

Debate Champion

Representing my school, I participated in the World Scholar’s Cup Singapore 2023, an international academic competition that challenges students in areas such as debate, collaborative writing, and global knowledge. Through dedication and teamwork, I emerged as the Top Scholar within my school and achieved 5th Place Overall out of 200+ participants from various schools across Singapore in the regional round.

This experience not only strengthened my academic abilities and general knowledge, but also honed my skills in critical thinking, communication, and collaboration under pressure. It was a highly rewarding experience that deepened my passion for learning and global issues.

Singapore National Flag Bearer

I was honoured to be selected as the Singapore National Flag Bearer at the World Scholar’s Cup Global Round in Xiamen. Carrying the national flag during the opening ceremony was a proud and unforgettable moment, symbolizing not only my personal achievements but also my role in representing my school and country on an international stage. This experience deepened my sense of national pride and global citizenship, and it reminded me of the importance of unity, respect, and cultural exchange among students from around the world.

Debate Mentor

In 2024, I returned to the World Scholar’s Cup as an official mentor for my juniors, guiding them through preparation in debate, writing, and global knowledge challenges. Drawing from my own experience, I provided them with strategies, feedback, and moral support throughout their journey.

Motivated by my passion for public speaking and critical thinking, I also took the initiative to establish an English debating group within the Drama Club. I proposed the idea to the school leadership and took charge of planning and executing the setup. This included recruiting interested students, developing structured training schedules, and working closely with teachers for advice and feedback. Finally the debating team will be officially launched in Term 3, 2025.

The formation of this group creates a new platform for students to strengthen their communication, reasoning, and confidence, and it gives me the opportunity to contribute to a lasting culture of intellectual engagement and student-led initiatives in school.
