NUS Physics Engagement Camp

I have a strong passion for Science and Mathematics. Recommended and sponsored by my school, I attended the NUS Physics Engagement Camp, where I won awards for active participation and problem-solving.

In 2025, I was selected to participate in the NUS Physics Engagement Camp organized by the Department of Physics, Faculty of Science. This gave me first-hand exposure to applied physics and university-level research methods, reinforcing my aspiration to explore topics like materials science, quantum theory, and physical modelling in greater depth.

Edusave Awards

My academic excellence is further reflected in my consistent A grades in both A-Math and E-Math. I was awarded the Edusave Scholarship 2024 and the Edusave Merit Bursary 2023 for strong academic performance and exemplary conduct.

International Elementz Fair

As a Silver Medalist at the International Elementz Fair hosted by Anderson Serangoon Junior College, I participated in a research project titled “Investigation on How Different Fillers in Bioplastics Affect Their Physical Properties.” I was actively involved in designing controlled experiments, formulating hypotheses, and testing various filler materials to assess their effects on tensile strength and impact absorption. Our findings revealed that agar-based bioplastics reinforced with cotton fillers demonstrated superior mechanical properties but also presented limitations, such as high water absorption and susceptibility to bacterial growth.

Through this experience, I developed key scientific method skills, including variable control, data collection and analysis, logical reasoning, and critical evaluation of experimental results. I also enhanced my abilities in research planning, scientific writing, and teamwork. Most importantly, I learned to evaluate trade-offs in bioengineering applications and gained a deeper appreciation for how science can be applied to address sustainability challenges in the real world.

National Digital Explorer 2024

I earned a Silver Award in the National Digital Explorer 2024, Secondary & JC Emerging Tech Track, which involved applying computational thinking and digital tools to solve real-world problems.

Bernina workshop

Sponsored by my school, I attended the Bernina workshop during the holidays.

Over the one-week programme, I learned a combination of coding and sewing using a BERNINA sewing machine, while also gaining insight into the precision engineering behind its design. During the Bernina Engineering Workshop, I developed hands-on experience in both block-based coding, applying logical sequencing and programming to automate sewing functions.

The final project was planning and sewing together an innovative design suited to a specific scenario.

In my case, I completed a final project where I designed and produced adaptive pants for the elderly and disabled—combining engineering design, user-centric problem solving, and practical implementation.

This workshop fascinated and inspired me to explore deeper into engineering or various industries.
