Performance Art to bring joy to hospital patients

SchoolARTS @ Sengkang Community Hospital

Each year, my CCA provides me with the meaningful opportunity to perform for patients at Sengkang Community Hospital. As part of our performing arts initiative, we aim to bring joy, comfort, and emotional uplift to patients through music, drama, and live hosting. I take on dual roles during these performances—I serve as one of the event hosts, guiding the programme flow, and also participate as a performer. These experiences have deepened my appreciation for the power of the arts in healing and human connection, and they have strengthened my confidence and communication skills in real-world settings.

Empowering peers through academic mentoring and support

Youth Mentorship

I volunteered to tutor my peers during my free time, providing academic support in subjects they found challenging. I took the time to explain difficult concepts, guide them through practice questions, and share effective study strategies. Over time, I was pleased to see noticeable improvements in their academic performance. This experience was both meaningful and fulfilling, as it brought me joy to know that I was able to make a positive difference in their learning journey and help boost their confidence.

Providing essential help to ease life in a digital era

Help Elderly to Learn how to use Mobile phone

I volunteered to assist elderly residents in setting up Instagram accounts and taught them how to use various features of the app on their mobile phones. This experience was particularly memorable for me, as it made me realise how challenging it can be for older adults to keep up with today’s fast-paced technological world. Seeing the joy and excitement on the faces of the Ah Gongs and Ah Mas as they uploaded their first posts was truly heartwarming and deeply rewarding.

Collecting food donations for families in need.

Food Drive

In 2022, when I first joined CVSS, I was appointed as the Values-In-Action (VIA) Champion of my class. In this role, I encouraged my classmates to participate in the Projection Handprint–Food Donation Drive 2022, organized by Sengkang Community Club. I actively contributed by sorting the donated items and rallying my class to take part in the donation efforts. In recognition of my contributions, I received a Certificate of Appreciation. Since then, participating in community service initiatives has become a meaningful annual practice for me.

Providing accompany and bringing simple happiness

Walk with Seniors

In 2023, I volunteered to accompany senior citizens and their grandchildren on a guided tour around the Singapore River. On another occasion, I assisted in accompanying a group of senior citizens on a walk around the neighbourhood near Tampines East Community Club. These experiences allowed me to connect with the older generation and contribute to their social engagement and well-being.
